This community was inspired by the the observation that many of the members of the Society for Creative Anachronism (a medieval re-creation group) have also been losing weight through Weight Watchers or related programs. And that while the SCA is a source of much fun historical research, and many of us have been getting a great deal of support from our WW meetings, there are some frequently reoccuring topics that come up among folks who both reflexively estimate "points" for everything on the table AND find galingale, camaline sauce, and sekanjebin to be perfectly familiar parts of this complete breakfast.

Note that you don't have to be in the SCA to join, or in Weight Watchers, but this community exists because we were confusing everyone who wasn't in both.

(The name "Tacuinum Sanitatis" comes from a collection of medieval medical texts that focused on the health benefits of various diets and activities.)
